Welcome back MTV, my old friend. . .

Powered by HULU, the excellent hi-def version of YouTube (if you watch reruns of "The Office" on Hulu.com, you know what I'm talking about), MTVmusic.com does what MTV used to do: play nothing but music videos.  What a concept!  Its too bad Pitchfork is going to take credit for the resurgence idea.

And as much as everyone bitches how MTV is no longer about music, the internet is really the perfect setting to host music videos.  The music video is supposed to be consumed in little packages.  Having them solely on television, a format better suited for storytelling (see AMC's "Mad Men"), really seems arcane today.

Right now, the site is pure comfort food.  Dire Straits' "Money for Nothing," The Talking Heads' "Once in a Lifetime," and GNR's "Welcome to the Jungle" all sit atop the "Most Viewed" list.

There are a lot of Gen-Xer's sitting at their work computer wasting valueable company time right about now---as opposed to siting on their parent's couch wasting valueable homework time.

Here is just a taste of how good the medium use to be:
