The Adventures of Freddie.K

Update: February 24, 2008

It has been awhile since my last post.  I have been traveling all month, and I am glad to finally have a few moments to reflect on all of the chaos.

I work for Red Scooter and we are coming up on our Fall/Winter 2008 season.  Which means pressure, stress, and sleepless nights.  Not only did our sample blanks (which we designed and had manufactured by a private company) come in two weeks late, but we were literally printing our line sheet as we were walking out the door.  We decided to go to United Trade Show which is a smaller trade show for more underground and artistic lines.  Cool factor: It's in Vegas durning the same time as Magic, Pool and Project.  Anyone that is more then a consumer in fashion, knows that these are where trends are created and style is set.

United actually got set up in some really great accounts in the US, Japan, Canada, Germany and Korea, as well as meeting some really cool people.  One my favorite new brands is Natures Mistake. Demetrius is an amazing artist and has great concepts that translate onto his garments.  My favorite being a little cartoon creature called Boogie.  If he was real, I would probably try to get in his crazy bear jumpsuit. I kind of wish I had some crazy party stories, the truth is... I don't.  After being at the convention for 10 hours, I headed straight back to my hotel room, drowned myself in enough meds to kill Elvis, and crashed.  I had the flu and bronchitis. Fun. I missed out on the shiny lights, cheap T&A, and losing all of my money.

On another note, since there is a lot of political happenings, I spent the afternoon in my office boredom looking for my favorite thing about election time.  Funny political humor created by jibjab.  I didn't really find anything amusing, so I created this to remind my room mates that I still love them and forwarded it to all of them.  It kind of made my day, and any one else's face I slapped to the breakin' figures. Don't be embarrassed, it's the only way you are ever going to be good at dancing.

Introduction

Posted Saturday, January 26th 2008 by Freddie.K
There is sunshine coming though the thick glass of my apartment.  I am sitting, staring and wondering where to start.  I am now living in New York City, where it is very rare to have a sunny day of perfection, as I often did while living in Florida.  I came to the sunshine state to get my life in order.  I think that I did.  I went to school and graduated with honors in Fashion Design... my true love.

Now, I am in NYC designing and doing-whatever-it-takes for Red Scooter and I occasionally DJ around town... I mostly play tunes people go stupid over. We all know that when we hear  "It's Brittany, Bitch!" at a club, it's the signal that everyone in the room is about to get dirty with some white kid crunking.  It's like the mort of fox-hunting.  Anyway, kids from here are way too cool to dance, but there is a higher ratio of Floridians then any other kind... So, when you are here, find a bar where they have PBR on tap, get ready for a hardcore Floridian dance party.

I know that a lot of kids from Tampa talk about leaving.  There seems to be so much comfort knowing that you can go to sink or swim at a bar that smells like piss and vomit.  I hope through my blog, I can open up and share my experience.  I will use this blog to introduce you to my life living here, meeting people, and sitting at bars that don't tickle your gag reflex.  It will be a cool thing. (I hope.)  Maybe if you don't move here... you could come for a visit.
