Billy Corgan Drags Faux Smashing Pumpkins To Clearwater

Posted Wednesday, July 16th 2008 by Michael Rabinowitz

Is this the real Smashing Pumpkins?  Without James Iha or Marcy Wretzy, or even latecomer Melissa Auf de Mar, I say "negatory, ghost rider."  Like us Gn'R fans, hope springs eternal for Pumpkinheads that Billy will sound like the whiner of old.  And, considering Corgan once called St. Petersburg his home, playing the local goth scene with his band The Marked, this will kind of be a homecoming, so I expect him to be properly motivated.

PS: I can't help but think of Chicago Sun Times Music Critic, Jim Derogatis, revealing Corgan's nickname to be "pear-shaped boy," deriving from Billy's less than muscular physique.  Here's hoping pear-shaped boy brings it to Clearwater in August.

From the Pumpkins website:

August 08, 2008 - Adler Theatre - Davenport, IA
August 09, 2008 - The Venue - Hammond, IN
August 12, 2008 - Palace Theatre - Louisville, KY
August 15, 2008 - Ovens Auditorium - Charlotte, NC
August 20, 2008 - Ruth Eckerd Hall - Clearwater, FL
"Tonight, Tonight" -- the height of Billy's powers:
