The New Drop Era Release Party
September 15, 2007
The Atlantic, Gainesville

REAX:  Is there a dual meaning behind the name Young Livers?
Dave Hall: The band name started as a joke kind of... Our first show was booked and we needed a name for the flyer. There are so many bands that have used Misfits song names or The Smiths song names or classic song titles for their band names. I thought it would be funny to use one of my favorite bands and influences Rocket from the Crypt’s song title as a band name.  After a few shows we just kept it because it somehow it fit.  As for double meaning, it just happened to fit our nightlife.

REAX:  How are independent record labels like No Idea and Kiss of Death important to the local music scene?
Chrs Jordan:  It's nice to know you are working with friends, more so than business partners.  For the local music scene, No Idea and K.O.D.  really help it thrive by having a real interest in what is going on, putting together great shows, everyone (label, bands, kids) co-exists on a very close level.
Matt Farrell:  Working with both labels has been awesome.  We go out before shows and we have great conversations. It's nice to know that you’re not just a product or a means of moving units to someone but rather having someone who believes in what you want to put out there.

REAX:  The release party for your new album, 'The New Drop Era', is at The Atlantic in Gainesville on September 15.  What are you doing to prepare for this and are you working on anything special for the show?
MF:  Writing some new material, maybe a little surprise. I'm sure we will think of something fun for the show. Last time we did something, we gave away free 40 ounces with T-shirts because we played in Georgia the day before.

REAX:  After your album is released, you’re heading out on quite an extensive tour.  Do you have day jobs and how do you manage your personal lives outside of the band when you leave for a month?
MF:  The band is our primary thing right now. The day jobs we may enjoy but we have other plans for now. As for dealing with being gone for a while we work as much as we can before we leave and save.
DH:  This has always been an issue for me.  I get tired of not being able to hold down a good job or have "nice" things, living check to check or having two jobs to save enough money to leave town for a while, but I don't have a choice.  I want to travel and play music, so I have to live the way I do.

REAX:  When you get back from touring, you’re playing The Fest VI in Gainesville.  What has been your favorite part about playing The Fest in years past and what are you most looking forward to now?
DH:  I had played Fest in a previous band and the first time I played Fest I had never been a part of something so big and exciting, thousands of punks on the streets drinking and having fun.  Now I get excited to see all of my friends that I see maybe twice a year.  It's like having a family reunion AND the possibility to make a million more amazing friends.
MF:  Fest is amazing. It's the one time of year I get a bunch of friends from back home or from bands I've met in the past years together at one big PARTY! It's always such a blur and it takes sometime to recover from.  It really is an extra holiday for the Gainesville people and everyone!!
